Frequently Asked Questions

Where is your company located?

We are located in Austin, Texas. Since we are a traveling show we currently do not have a building location.

Are your events appropriate for children?

Our shows are rated PG. The reason for this is because each show will contain some type of murder scenario. Whether it be from a gunshot, poisoning, or some other type of shenanigan. Not to mention, there are the occasional innuendo jokes, but we do not employ cursing. We try to keep it family friendly; though it is more tailored toward adults.

Do I have to be part of the show?

If you want, you can just sit back, relax, and enjoy the show. Get comfy and have a wonderful time!  We do ask for at least 12 to 14 volunteers to take part in our show since this is an audience-participation type of event. In short, you don’t have to worry if you’re the type who wants to only watch the show. We rarely have a whole room of people say no to participating.

What’s the dress code?

Business casual. Jacket and tie are optional. If you would like to wear pants, then you’re more than welcome to. No T-shirts, shorts or torn jeans please.

Do I need to wear a costume?

No, not at all. For those who want to participate in the mystery we can provide a simple costume. It may be something as simple as a hat and boa feathers, or a coat jacket with a prop gun. Though do check our show listings because we occasionally do costume contest with only a few slots for participants to sign up.

How early should I arrive? Will I be able to score front row seats?

The way we do our shows is not like your typical play. We don’t use a stage or have rows of seats. It all takes place in the space of the venue. Sure, we might be centered in one area at first, but we walk around to make sure it feels more immersive.

How long is an event?

Usually about two hours. This can vary depending on where we are performing or if you book us as a private event.

Will there be gore, horror, or crazy disco lights?

We do not use any type of gore. We wouldn’t want our guest to feel uncomfortable after eating a lovely meal. Though we do use loud gunshot sound effects. Our shows are not scary, but around Halloween we may have a creepy one. It just depends on our show lineup. Be sure to check and read the brief description of our current and upcoming shows. As for lighting, we don’t do any strobes or blackouts.

Does the mystery take place before or after dinner?

It will take place after dinner.

How do I receive my tickets?

After you have purchased your tickets, we will send you a confirmation email. This email will also contain information on where the event will be held. We will have your name on a check-in list so please be sure to check in with us upon arrival. You do not need to print out your tickets, but you can if you would like.

Is it possible to pay at the door?

Unfortunately, no. All reservations need to be made online in advance.

Can I cancel my reservation?

Our reservations are nonrefundable. We do understand that incidents happen after the transaction has been made, so send us an email and depending on the venue we can try our best to work something out for you.

What if my other group paid separately and we all want to sit together?

When you are purchasing your tickets, be sure that you both write the same group name upon checkout.

How often do you change up your shows?

We typically change up our shows every three months.

Will I be doing any kind of paperwork during the show to solve the mystery?  Do I need to take notes?

We are not that type of mystery show. You are here to view and enjoy the show, not to do homework. We do give you a paper during intermission to see if you can figure out who you think did it, but it’s nothing that you have to stress over. It’s just something to do for fun with your table while we prepare the third act.

Do you have any hidden actors in the audience?

Not at all, we just use one or occasionally two performers. So, everyone at your table will be as genuine as you.

What is the theme of your shows?

Our themes vary depending on the show, so be sure to check our calendar to see what type of theme we are currently doing.

Can we request accommodations for our food?

It depends on the capabilities of the venue. Please call the venue directly for information on food accommodations.

Do you do group discounts?

Certainly, we offer $5.00 off per person for groups of 10 or more, but this also depends on venue location. Be sure to check out where we are performing first.

Should I surprise someone with this type of event?

While we can’t stop you from doing that, though we wouldn’t necessarily recommend it. Some people may be uncomfortable not knowing what to expect and what is expected of them. We want to make sure that everyone has a great experience while coming to the event.

Is gratuity included?

No, gratuity is not included, but it is appreciated for the servers and bartenders.

Is it okay if I take pictures or record?

Of course, we encourage it. We are proud of what we do and want you to make memories that you can look back on. Don’t be afraid to post them on social media either. Share it and tag us in it too! We love knowing that we made someone’s night.

 Private Party Questions

What kind of venue should I look for?

If you’re looking into a restaurant then it needs to have a private party room, or you could scout out a hotel that uses a private banquet space. We don’t mind if you use a home. Just make sure that the location of the performance will be in a big enough room for everyone to be comfortable. We will need enough room to move among the audience members

Is it okay if we do a buffet style instead of a plated dinner?

That is fine with us, as long as we can do a small introduction before everyone eats and are able to perform after dinner.

How big of a group can we have?

As many as you like. Do keep in mind that we will only being using 12 to 14 volunteers for the show.

Am I able to pick the script?

Unfortunately, we must maintain script selection privileges for various reasons. We do track which shows a private party has seen, so you will not get repeats should you wish to enjoy another show with us.

Can I request a new script to be written for my party?

For an additional charge, a new script can be prepared. Depending on availability, there will need to be a 1-2 month lead time to prepare the new script. Please note that we can make minor modifications to existing scripts to fit a theme or incorporate minor details for special events at no additional cost.

If I did get a script made from you, can it be rated R instead of PG?

Certainly, if you would like a more serious show with less humor and a little more adult fun, that can be arranged. All you have to do is put it in your request form and tell us how far is too far for the show.  We do however reserve the right to refuse requests.
